Check that the listing states a HEPA grade, not just 'HEPA type'. A good replacement should also include the carbon layer if your original had one.
When to replace
Many makers suggest every 6 to 12 months for normal use. In a dusty flat, with pets, or during haze season, the filter may need replacing sooner. Signs include weaker airflow, a rising noise level or a musty smell when the unit starts.
Washable pre-filters can be rinsed and fully dried. HEPA layers are not washable, so do not rinse them.
