What a small purifier can and cannot do
Small units move far less air than a room purifier, so the benefit comes from proximity. Placed near your keyboard or pillow, they can reduce dust and odours in your breathing zone. Placed across the room, they will mostly make a pleasant noise.
Many listings advertise negative ions. An ionizer is not the same as a HEPA filter, so look for a real filter if cleaning the air is your goal.
Power, noise and filters
Check whether the unit runs on a USB-C or a USB-A cable, and whether it needs a 5V adapter. Very small units often use a short-lived filter, so find out the price of replacements before you buy.
Noise is quoted at the lowest speed. Anything marked below 30 dB is quiet enough for a bedside table, but the figure is the seller's.
